Since March, investigators from the Fairfax County of the Police Department have been probing a crew who have been targeting more than a dozen stores, stealing more than $72,000 in merchandise during their crime spree.
On Monday, July 8, the agency announced that District resident Jomarice Evans, 27 was arrested following the investigation after he was linked to the thefts.
The thefts were reported between March 14 and July 4 this year.
Evans was charged with:
- Five counts of grand larceny;
- Five counts of larceny with intent to sell;
- Five counts of transportation of alcohol;
- Five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor;
- Destruction of property;
- Organized retail theft.
He's being held behind bars in a different jurisdiction.
Three minors were also identified, arrested in Washington, DC, and charged with three counts of grand larceny and larceny with intent to sell.
Police say that the investigation into the thefts is ongoing, and they're working to identify others involved in the incidents.
